Sister Moms, This is what we are. The retreat was a chance for me to meet other mothers on this painful journey. We formed a bond that will always stay strong. Unless you have lost a child to drug overdose, you cannot imagine the pain and sadness we carry in our broken hearts. Having other’s share their feelings was very important to my long existing road to healing. Making journals, painting rocks, creating a mandala, cooking and doing dishes, sharing our grief and releasing balloons were a big part of our busy days. My favorite time was talking with the moms about their lives right now and hearing about their Angel’s before addiction. Thank you to all of you! I left feeling spiritually stronger and blessed. What a special experience in my journey that I will always cherish! The making of a sister family, was what took place at this retreat. We almost immediately formed a bond that will never be broken. We cried, we laughed, we hugged, but most of all we supported each other in a way that changed us. We were kept busy: * creating a beautiful journal - thank you MaryBeth * partook in grief counseling - thank you Patti * created a Mandala - thank you Noreen * painted rocks for the rock garden at the residence in which we stayed - fun * cooked meals in teams - yummy *released balloons But most of all, us moms talked every chance we got about our Angels. The support we received from each other was Phenomenal - thank you sister moms. Thank you to our wonderful host, Noreen!

I walked in the door to the October 2021 retreat @ CHHH the first day shaking. I felt anxious, defeated and tired. My former friends did not understand the grief of losing a child. I wasn’t sure if my son, Andrew, had gone to heaven. Through the activities and groups, watching the movie, “The Shack” and being around faith-minded parents “in my shoes” rejuvenated my belief, trust in and loyalty to God. I left the enlightening, as well as relaxing, retreat with new tools that allowed me to understand I was not alone on this journey. The hurt I had over me lessened my fears. Mainly, though, I now have a new group of friends for life who are truly there for me, and I am there for them. With the help and support of each other, we will remember each other’s children, and as we do, we will experience joy and peace without guilt and maybe even be able to process our lives in a more meaningful way. I Felt So Loved, Welcomed and Understood. I attended the October 2021 retreat and am I glad I did. The setting in Ellijay Georgia is absolutely gorgeous. I felt so loved welcomed and understood as soon as I walked in the door. I enjoyed every day at the retreat and wished it was longer. The rock painting and balloon release was so healing. I made a beautiful bracelet with my son Garrett's name on it. I highly recommend this retreat to all grieving mothers and fathers. The first retreat after I left, I thought ok, now I have seen everything that I needed to see. Boy was I wrong. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Each retreat has a completely different sense of healing all around us while we are there. It is nothing that can be explained. You must experience it for yourself. There is something about the parents that are in each group that is there too as well. It is like they are all the ones that are meant to be there with each other as well. Each one of them has something the other ones need and must help the other ones. The perfect fit. All together they are are not alone in the battle against Addiction. I wish I was half as strong as all of you ladies that walk through the doors of Crystals Heart Healing House, the strength every one of you ladies carry around amazes me! Every one of you is an inspiration and every one of your angels were blessed to have you as their parents.
